GUIDED VISITS
During the week before the costume ball
Geneviève Deslogis-Viollet is a specialist in art and history and has been guiding groups around Paris for many years, as well as dancing with Chestnut. She is offering some offbeat guided tours to our friends from abroad in order to make their stay even more interesting. These guided visits are not in English but English speakers should have no difficulty in following the main points in her commentary. Geneviève suggests you make a voluntary donation at the end of each visit.

Monday June 5, 2023, afternoon
Visit to the Château of Malmaison
- Admission fee 5.50€ each, for a group of at least 10 people
- Maximum 24 people
On the way to a snack after the visit, Geneviève will give you more information on other interesting spots in Rueil-Malmaison.
Tuesday June 6, 2023, afternoon
Little-known aspects of the Marais neighbourhood: squares, inner courtyards, gardens

We’ll meet in the main quadrangle of the Hôtel Salé, and visit the Jardin Saint-Gilles Grand Veneur – Pauline Roland garden, theArnaud Beltrame garden (formerly a Minimes convent, later used as a barracks), the Place des Vosges of course, and the Place du Marché Sainte-Catherine. We’ll have a snack at a place nearby.
Wednesday June 7, 2024, afternoon
Visit to the Hôtel Bourrienne, one of the few places in Paris decorated in the Directoire style
- No admission fee
- Maximum 24 people
After the visit we’ll stay in the area between rue de Paradis, rue du Faubourg Poissonnière and rue de l’Echiquier to see the Nouvelle France neighbourhood and hear about the beautiful houses now hidden behind tenement blocks built flush with the pavement but with a few remains still to be admired.
